Tips to Avoid Citations

These tips are presented to heighten your awareness of the parking/traffic rules that are generating the most written citations. We take seriously the safety of every individual, whether participating in or attending our academic and cultural programs, or athletic events.

Avoid Parking Tickets/Traffic Citations-Helpful Hints

  • Motor vehicles and bicycles operated or parked (including meters) on campus by students, faculty, and staff must be registered with the appropriate parking decal. Faculty, staff, and students will not be considered a visitor
  • Parking in an area reserved for the Handicapped without the appropriate permit will result in a $250.00 fine and the vehicle will be subject to towing
  • An accumulation of five unpaid citations will subject your vehicle(s) to being towed from campus
  • When driving a vehicle not eligible to be registered on a temporary basis you must display a temporary parking decal from the Parking Division
  • Disabled vehicles are to be reported immediately to the University Police at 453-3771 (453-DPS1)
  • Bicycles must be walked and skateboards carried in designated areas
  • You are responsible for citations on your vehicle and you will be held responsible for citations in the name of family members unless acceptable evidence to the contrary is presented within five (5) business days of the citation notice
  • Guests must display a valid guest permit or must park and pay at visitor parking meters
  • Decals are to be permanently affixed to the outside back window driver's side or to the bumper left of the license plate. Excludes all side windows
  • Exceeding the posted 20MPH speed limit on campus will result in a $50.00 citation.
